Comfortable clean room, perfect for a 'stop over'
There was only 1 set of towels in the room for 2 people however this was rectified immediately after calling reception. Cooked breakfast took over 25 mins to arrive after ordering and was only average when it did get to us. which is unfortunate for such a lovely hotel.
The dinner which was exceptionally inventive
This is a real gem of a hotel. A little frayed at the edges but that is what gives this country hotel its charm. The food is wonderful, the staff are attentive and the tranquility of the setting is just great for taking time out.
I wouldn't describe the room I was in as 'Deluxe...' But it was spacious. A new mattress would be recommended as it was way way too soft and uneven, however it didn't spoil the stay!
Terrific room and breakfast, lovely grounds, tempting tennis and croquet, very helpful staff. Best value we've had, thank you.
Nothing except the tennis court needs resurfacing. Surely worthwhile?
My room was really comfortable and as I was alone it was great not to feel I stuck out at dinner because most of the other guests were business people.
My room was comfy and everything worked. its an old Manor House so done expect everything to be straight
The beer was warm and not good
A nice quiet relaxing break in the countryside.
Lovely locationfriendly staff
Menu needs to change each day
The room was very good - plenty of space; comfortable;quiet and well equipped. Great bathroom. Good views. Staff were efficient and helpful. Peaceful location. Breakfast was excellent - plent of choice.
The staff were very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable about the hotel and the menu. Dinner was fantastic, but breakfast was not up to the same standards, still good none the less. It was great to see on the menu where the hotel sourced there food from. The spa room was large and very relaxing. I would go back and stay at the hotel again.
Not a huge amount to do near the hotel without a car, other than a couple of walks. Though the peaceful location was great.
Calming and relaxed, great food and service.
It was a very peaceful stay and in a lovely setting ideal for 'Stonehenge' and for the Thruxton Jaguar Racing Day my husband went on.
We got a little confused with the 'fine dining' menu and ended up paying more for alot smaller meal and still being hungry we should have known that the 'Classic Menu' had the normal larger portions - we enjoyed the food and the look of it too but laughed at the mistake we had made.
Beautiful hotel & location, friendly staff & excellent breakfast
Noise from other guests/restauraunt rather intrusive due to seemingly thin walls
Really good food and very comfortable
Can be a bit quiet
The setting was nice and it was convient to our location.
We asked for another pot of coffee with our breakfast, our breakfast too nearly 30 mins to come to the table, so we had drunk the first pot, when we asked for another we were told breakfast was over, but we only asked for coffee we were told to leave the table and go into the bar, but the bar was full of photgraphy things for a wedding fayre, I felt a complimentry coffee pot could have been given having waited so long for the breakfast really!!! Plus we had 2 TV sports punndits on the table who have eat all over the world in the best restaurants and were quite blown away when refused the pot of coffee! One of them was working for the bbc within 2 hours and well, his coffee he needed!!
